Operation: - Thors Hammer IV - AAR
- SFOD1 Mike Force One AAR -
After a successful extraction from our LZ in the waning hours of day light, the eye of Kali was secure and in the MF1 detachments possession. The bulk of the American soldiers returned to base MSLND to rest and refit. Mike force One detachment with the Eye in-tow were escorted by two Longbow gunships to ensure safe passage to the drop zone and the safe return of the “Eye”. That’s when it all came unglued…we were talking about how thankful we were we actually made it out of the D+17 mission when from what I remember a red streak hit the Longbow next to us. It exploded and our pilot pulled his stick Lima to avoid the debris. Unfortunately he struck the second Longbow’s rotor tearing our Back Hawk nearly in half, our tail rotor was severed and the co pilot pulled the FTLs to compinsate the spin of our rapid decent…
All was black. The acrid stench of fuel and burning materials filled the area. We had crashed. And there were many casualties. I looked at my leg “holy S*** my knee cap was missing. I could feel the color flee from my face as I felt the pangs of shock set in. I looked around the area and was surprised that 3 members were uninjured. Our door gunner busted both femurs, Iceman’s knee was blown and his ACLs torn.
Mike 2 had hit his head so hard, he lost vision in his left eye. Two members lost use of an arm apiece and to top it off, most of our ammunition was cooking off in the flames of the UH60.
We managed to pull away from the wreckage leaving 12 dead and our motley crew of 9 survivors pushed down a creek bed and set up a defensive circle. It was only a matter of time before we encountered 1 or 2 scouts from the Red Star faction searching for the crash site. I dispatched of one enemy flanking our position, but missed my second tango due to a jam. It was another 30 minutes before the Radio crackled to life with promies of a rescue squad consisting of 20 men. They couldn’t see the wreckage due to the over growth of the forest. All I could do is tell them the only markers I saw on the way down was “A lake near a clearing...we are down what appears to be an obscure road near a dry creek”
Mike 1 stood out near the bend to the 12 of my position to look for the CSAR and the American rescue squad, when he got muzzle punched from behind knocking him into a daze. He was quickly taken prisoner by RS troopers. We could not catch up the RS troopers with all of our injuries. He was lost.
It was nearly noon, when we decided to try and move out of the shallow valley and into a better position. As we inched our way through the creek and up a slight grade to the access road we were ambushed by accurate fire. They killed our medic and a few other CSAR soldiers were killed as well. I was stuck behind a tree stump taking fire from a position at my 12 o’clock. "How did I manage to get here?" I thought to myself.
For some reason there was an immediate halt in all action. It looked like a good chance to grab some grubs and insects to fill our stomachs until we could get a proper meal. I will never eat another caterpillar again…they wiggle to much.

Do we need to consolidate cars, or is there enough parking up @ the field? I've never been to Bonnie Dunne.

There is some perking at the gate, We would like to get as many people to hop in the same vehicle the 2 miles down to the field to keep the traffic and road damage to a minimum. If you have a 4x4 the clearance will make the drive a bit easier, however its not 100% necessary.
I had a great game, I hope all of you did too. ya, even the commies.
If anyone got any pictures of me hauling Trump to he extraction point, I'd love to get my hands on them.
As always, thanks Dr. King for a great game.
