CODE NAME: - Red Death - AAR

AFTER ACTION REPORT - OPERATION: BIOHAZARD (CODENAME: RED DEATH)
DOCUMENT DATE – 10/12/08 (1315hrs)
LOCATION – LAOS RIVER BASIN (36°47'33.04”N - 121°44'15.25”W)
REPORT FROM RED-STAR QRF SUPPORT GROUP

1. At approximately 1315hrs, SUPER NOVA COMMAND made the decision to have RED STAR's QRF support group rendezvous with remaining RED STAR forces at a river basin in Laos.

1.The initial RED STAR security detail had taken severe casualties at this point in the mission. A reported group of five RED STAR elements from the security detail had in their possession an important package. It was the primary objective of the RED STAR forces to safely transport this package to an extraction site just to their east of the river basin.

2. Despite RED STAR's loyalty to SUPER NOVA, it should be noted that communication reports of a strange looking and violently behaving OpFor did give the support team second thoughts about the mission.

2. At roughly 1330hrs, RED STAR's QRF inserted to the north of a tree line bordering the river basin. No resistance was taken.

1. A quick SITREP gave the support group an understanding of the mission circumstances: large numbers of reanimated, aggressive, and extremely dangerous hostiles designated as “Zombies” would require a hasty alliance between U.S. and REDSTAR forces. Five to ten minutes prior to extraction and mission completion, the Command “EXECUTE” would be given to terminate any American allies.

2. Immediately after insertion, The RED STAR support group infiltrated the “Snake Trail” tree line and proceeded through it to the east, to a point roughly 177 meters from the insertion point. The location was a tight funnel between two tree-lines; it allowed for good visibility but was also a very open and vulnerable position to defend. At this location, a small four-man detachment separated from the main group and proceeded to flank around the south-eastern borders of the mission area. The main group encountered heavy “Zombie” resistance during this time, however it held its ground. The four-man detachment silently maneuvered over the “South Mountain” hill without contact. Less than a half hour later, the four-man detachment encountered the five remaining survivors of the security detail and the nine man force moved to the base of the “South Mountain” hill with the “package”.

3.Around 1400hrs, American forces were encountered, and a mutual accord to fight against the “Zombie” threat was struck between the American and RED STAR forces. The nine-man detachment cautiously snaked from the from the base of “South Mountain” hill to a grove of trees just a few meters south of the position held by RED STAR's main force. Several elements from the RED STAR and American force joined the detachment. The detachment eventually split into two distinguishable forces that worked together closely.
1.

Most “Zombies” were avoided by remaining silent and concealed; any “Zombies” that posed an immediate threat were dealt with swiftly and appropriately.
2.

The combined assault force moved quickly and mostly undetected through several patches of Laos' trees and vegetation for around a half hour.
4.

Roughly ten minutes before the designated extraction time, the command “Execute” was given. Several Americans in the detachment force's immediate vicinity were killed. Unfortunately, the first group of RED STAR forces, operating just ahead of the second group, had lost possession of the “package” in the American force's own betrayal of RED STAR. The four-man detachment that had spearheaded the rendezvous with the RED STAR survivors once again separated from the main fighting force.
1.

The combatants that the “Zombies” had not claimed became engulfed with distrust and confusion.
2.

A desperate last attempt to retrieve the “package” failed. RED STAR's four-man detachment secured the extraction site, but had no package to extract. The Americans had in their possession the “package”, but suppression from RED STAR and “Zombies” prevented the Americans from extracting the package as well.
5.

Heavy casualties were inflicted upon the RED STAR QRF and additional RED STAR survivors. It is also reported that several American casualties were inflicted at the conclusion of “RED DEATH.” Though RED STAR forces fought hard to complete the objectives determined by SUPER NOVA, the entirety of the RED STAR force failed its mission.
1.

At the conclusion of the “RED DEATH” mission, RED STAR is determined not to fail again. There is no Success like Failure, and Failure is No Success at All! We will NOT fail SUPER NOVA!

Operation: - BEAR HUNT -AAR

Awaiting American AAR

Our’s not to reason why, Our’s but to do and die…

*.*.*

[[Bat 2-3, Bat 2-3, this is Bat 2-8, over]]
[[Bat 2-8: go ahead]]

[[Bat 2-3: I am about half a klick South-West of your pos. Break. I got 6 Tangos moving towards you passing west to east right in front of me. Break. I got one November-Victor-Mike recruit with me. What do you want me to do? Over]]

[[Bat 2-8: ignore the Tangos. You gotta didi outa there and rendezvous with your unit at grid Echo-1, North East of the FEBA. Buster! Over]]

[[Bat 2-3: Roger. We will ignore the Tangos and buster to rendezvous at the N-E of the FEBA. We are moving out now. Bat 2-8 out]]

Bat 2-8 and the recruit hustled and arrived at the N-E corner of the FEBA (Forward Edge of the Battle Area). All the remainder of Red Star (RS) and Neo Vietminh (NVM) personnel in the Ho Chi Minh Trail AO had gathered here and were preparing to repel the final American onslaught that was to come.

The Tangos that Bat 2-8 spotted on his scouting mission were the re-enforcement that the Americans were marshalling for the final push to overwhelm the RS and NVM troops occupying this section of the Ho Chi Minh Trail bordering the Laotian territory.

With their SAM capabilities neutralized by the Americans 2 days ago, RS was powerless against the American Black Hawk’s airlifting troops into the FEBA.

“Bear Hunt”, was the code name that the Americans used for this operation over their radio traffic. The Americans had been on the hunt for RS and NVM all of the morning and had managed to force RS and NVM personnel to retrograde to the N-E corner of the Ho Chi Minh Trail. We were now setting up our final defensive position with our backs to the Laotian border. We deployed our defensive perimeter as best as we could with the limited resources that were left.

Bat 1-Actual was in overall command. Bat 2 Spetsnaz squad split up into four 2-man teams covering all 360 degrees of the defensive position. Other RS and NVM personnel were in their foxholes and tunnel bunkers such as to have the best concealment and overlapping fields of fire.

… And then we did what all fighting men had done since the dawn of time… We waited…

While we waited, I reflected on the situation and could NOT figure out why in the hell Super Nova hadn’t pulled us out of this ass-end of SE Asia by now. Clearly, Red Star’s campaign to establish the presence of the Neo Viet Minh on Vietnam soil had been a disaster! Was this another one of those “save face thing” that our illustrious leader was always so big on?

But our’s not to reason why…

The mother of all battles started with the Americans and their allies probing RS perimeter. They were given a hearty but deadly welcome. The probes weren’t a complete failure since they did allow the American scum to get a feel for the RS troop deployment and identify potentially weak areas where they could stage a breakthrough.

The main axis of attack came from due west of the RS position. The Americans threw waves and waves of cannon fodder at the RS line, and took horrific casualties. RS regulars and commandos dished out an enormous amount of hurt and made the Imperialists pay dearly for their poorly conceived notion that they could use sheer numbers to quickly overpower crack RS troops in well fortified positions. This went on for almost an hour, and the way things went, it looked like we might win the day yet.

But the Americans continued to pour troops into the battle area. The continuous waves of Black Hawks burned tracks in the sky. Eventually, the RS troops were taken out one by one. Each of our RS comrades going down must have taken at least 10 of the Americans down with him or her, but this did not seem to discourage the Americans and their allies.

Bat 2-3 and Bat 2-8 were assigned the security of the southern perimeter. As the Americans seemed to concentrate their assault axis on the western perimeter, Bat 2-3 and 2-8 saw an opportunity to move around the south of the American assault axis and loop to the north and try to stick it to the Americans where the sun don’t shine. If we succeeded, then the American line would be caught in the crossfire from in front and behind.

We radioed our intentions to Bat 1-Actual to get the ok to execute, but got no response. Bat 2-Actual was also off the air. At this point, the situation was precarious enough that we took the initiative in the hope of forcing the Americans to divide their firepower and take the heat off the RS defenders. As we moved south, we encountered allies’ scouts trying to find a weak spot in our southern flank. We dispatched these scouts with ease and continued our planned maneuver to hit the Americans in the back.

As we traversed the jungle thicket to our objective, we spotted troop movements on the tree line. We froze in place, and the enemy failed to see us due to the effectiveness of our Tiger Stripe battle dress uniforms. It turned out that we were not the only ones with the bright idea of flanking the enemy. This squad of Americans and their allies were on the way to hit us from our southern flank. We both decided that these new Tangos represented a more imminent threat to our position and had to be neutralized first. We let them passed by and followed them from a distance. They truly were amateurs as their tail-end Charlie did not even think to check their rear security. With their backs turned to us, we stealthily closed in and took them out so fast they died without knowing why.

As we reached our original position on the southern perimeter, we more heard than saw the Americans to the north. They must have breached the western defenses and were now within our perimeters. We ambushed the careless ones, got a few but invited a shit storm on our heads. The Americans just laid down a wall of lead in our general direction. Most of the rounds went high since we were prone on the jungle floor. In the midst of the chatter of machine gun and the screams of the wounded and dying, we heard the shrill whistle sound. This was the signal for RS troops to break station and scatter as pre-briefed and regroup in Laotian territory.

We backed out of our current hiding location and started our trek due west, trying to avoid contact with the enemy. We didn’t know how many of us were still standing and would make it to the rally point…

Operation: Flaming Arrow - AAR

American AAR - MIKE 3

Every dog has its day.

The American forces deployed 4 QRF (Quick Reaction Force) teams into the Moss Land AO to destroy the missile systems the Red Star faction used to cause the destruction and deaths of the Blackhawks and Apache longbows in the days preceding this Operation.
The Recon Marines were sent Southeast through the strawberry fields to conduct reconnaissance while QRF element 1 and 3 moved towards the south mountain on what eventually would be determined as bogus intelligence.

QRF team met light resistance at Location Charlie-Delta three but decided to push passed the area to scout the entire south mountain area for the launchers. Both Army detachments met at the crest without even a hint of the launchers. At this point it was assumed that the light resistance we met at Charlie-Delta three in fact was a larger force dug in.

QRF team 2 scouted the west LZ area and then proceeded into the “Snake Trail” in hopes of finding any trace of the RS forces that may have intel. Continuous radio chatter kept the American forces up to date with what at this point appeared to be a ghost or just bad reports that Red Star had at least a platoon in the area.

QRF teams 1 and 3 contacted the Recon marines and ordered them to location Delta two while team 1 moved to Delta-four and QRF team 3 moved to Echo-three. Myself and one other operator moved to Charlie-three. We had surrounded the point of initial contact for the day and coordinated a four-side attack on the area.

Myself (Bronco/Mike 3) and Warpig initiated contact From Charlie-Three to draw the RS elements attention. We bounded up and immediately came under fire form three locations. The order was then given for the other two Army and Marine detachments to move in at eliminate the resistance.

Warpig and Myself both killed 2 Red Star soldiers. Warpig’s weapon malfunctioned so we held our position for 1 minute then moved into the tree line. Immediately My weapon malfunctioned, so I switched to my 1911 and We entered the tree line. At this point all American forces met, and found only 9 total RS troops were holding this area. Our coordinated efforts reaped little reward.

At this point QRF 2 that was working through the “Snake trail” noticed significant movement at the base of the north hill and ordered all teams to converge on the location. I can safely say our cohesion came apart and the fog of war set in at this time.

Our once organized teams were spread out and for better terms fractured from scrambling to get into position at the base of the northern hill. I was able to repair my primary weapon, and I moved into a position at the base of the north hill. We immediately made contact once we left the tree cover, but soon ran low on ammunition and we had to abandon our assault and head for the relative safety of the "Snake Trail". We lost four men, and our medics were nowhere near our location. As “Hill” and myself were reloading in the cover of the “snake trail” three RS troopers were flanking us from the rear. I quickly dispatched of one soldier, the other two backed out of the area. Hearing the commotion three other RS troops moved into the trees from the north to assist. I killed two more before being wounded. “Hill” held the position and the other RS troops moved back up the north hill.

Our radio communications at this point were disrupted due to an open mic, and we never could get completely organized for the balance of the day. Multiple attempts were made to take the RS location on the northern hill, but were beaten back time after time. Red Star element moved away from the location, and left a blocking force to give the appearance of a larger target, but as we fought they slipped away again leaving us empty handed. We eventually overran their old location only to find a trail of bloodied rags and shell casings. From the looks of it, they were throwing a lot of lead our direction. The medivacs came and took our dead and wounded to the forward surgical post.

The American force along with the Marines moved towards the South East in hopes of catching a break and getting an opportunity to finally stop the seemingly unstoppable force Supernova had put in charge of this operation. They were beating us on most every level.

Eventually we made contact again at location Echo-1. The full American force was bearing down on the RS position. We sent a flanking force to enter from the south east side as the main body headed directly into the wooded cover. The fight was intense, you couldn’t move more than a few feet without taking a casualty. Both sides were feeling the losses and eventually thing calmed down. Red Star reinforcement came in from the Southwest pinching the balance of the American force. This kept them busy outside of the objective area for the waning hours of light.

I was alone again in the wooded area near the missile launchers; I had avoided detection and low-crawled through the stickers and weeds to within ten meters of the objective. I killed five more RS troopers that were looking for my position, the wounded I used as bait for the medics. I dispatched one medic, but RS was not going to risk any more. They let their wounded bleed out. They did not know my exact position so they kept a routine of suppressing fire that was too close for me to really move closer.

Night is coming…I guess every dog has its day.

American AAR II - "Warpig"

Flaming Arrow – American AAR

“Drop zone in 10 seconds! 9 … 8 … 7…” as the jump master counted off the seconds with his fingers clearly for all to see, MF1 members visually checked each others one last time before the HALO (High Altitude Low Opening) deployment.
Blackhawk insertion was not feasible due to the shoulder-launched SAM threat. Instead, US high command chose the HALO method which allowed for the Osprey (our ride into the danger zone) to approach the drop zone at the safe altitude of 37,000 feet.

“3… 2… 1…” The jump light flicked from amber to green, “GO, GO, GO”.

The team jumped out of the cargo ramp and free-fell for 32,000 feet before deploying chutes at the minimum altitude of 5,000 feet. All landed on a plateau within 100 yards of each other. After securing the chutes and changing our gear into patrol, search and destroy configuration, the team hiked for hill Echo 2, about 1 klick from the plateau. We met up with local Vietnamese scouts who had intel on the SAM’s whereabouts and Red Star (RS) troop strength.

The hunt was on!!! We also got in radio contact with the Marines contingent that has been in country over the last 3 days, and moving in on the objective. Using the coordinates from the scouts, we coordinated effort, hunted down, and neutralized pockets of RS forces throughout the AO. However, the SAMs were not found at these coordinates. Apparently, the RS commander has been moving the SAMs around for security reasons.

After 2 hours of sporadic, but vicious engagements, MF team leader received encrypted comm from US high command that the SAMs have been spotted by satellites, and that all US and allied forces in the AO were to double-timed to the new coordinate.
This time, the SAMs and the RS guards were on caught in the open, but they had the advantage of high ground. US forces moved in on the insurgents from the West and South, but suffered heavy casualties in doing so. Every inch of ground gained was paid for in blood and progress up the hill was maddeningly slow.
US forces eventually managed to overwhelm the RS forces and took the hill… and found nothing, again! Using the heat and confusion of battle, the RS commander once more moved the SAMs to a different location, unnoticed. We couldn’t make further use of the satellite, since the window has passed and the next one won’t come around for another 6 hours.
We deducted that RS troops could not have moved the objective too far in the 30 minutes of battle. And they must have moved down into the valley to the East of the hill, since South, West, and North were impassable. Like sharks smelling blood, the US forces quickly regrouped and chased after the RS insurgents, deep into the dense jungle down on the valley floor.

Daylight was fading fast and we geared up for night op. This fight ain’t over yet

Operation: - Thors Hammer IV - AAR

- SFOD1 Mike Force One AAR -

After a successful extraction from our LZ in the waning hours of day light, the eye of Kali was secure and in the MF1 detachments possession. The bulk of the American soldiers returned to base MSLND to rest and refit. Mike force One detachment with the Eye in-tow were escorted by two Longbow gunships to ensure safe passage to the drop zone and the safe return of the “Eye”. That’s when it all came unglued…we were talking about how thankful we were we actually made it out of the D+17 mission when from what I remember a red streak hit the Longbow next to us. It exploded and our pilot pulled his stick Lima to avoid the debris. Unfortunately he struck the second Longbow’s rotor tearing our Back Hawk nearly in half, our tail rotor was severed and the co pilot pulled the FTLs to compinsate the spin of our rapid decent…

All was black. The acrid stench of fuel and burning materials filled the area. We had crashed. And there were many casualties. I looked at my leg “holy S*** my knee cap was missing. I could feel the color flee from my face as I felt the pangs of shock set in. I looked around the area and was surprised that 3 members were uninjured. Our door gunner busted both femurs, Iceman’s knee was blown and his ACLs torn.
Mike 2 had hit his head so hard, he lost vision in his left eye. Two members lost use of an arm apiece and to top it off, most of our ammunition was cooking off in the flames of the UH60.

We managed to pull away from the wreckage leaving 12 dead and our motley crew of 9 survivors pushed down a creek bed and set up a defensive circle. It was only a matter of time before we encountered 1 or 2 scouts from the Red Star faction searching for the crash site. I dispatched of one enemy flanking our position, but missed my second tango due to a jam. It was another 30 minutes before the Radio crackled to life with promies of a rescue squad consisting of 20 men. They couldn’t see the wreckage due to the over growth of the forest. All I could do is tell them the only markers I saw on the way down was “A lake near a clearing...we are down what appears to be an obscure road near a dry creek”

Mike 1 stood out near the bend to the 12 of my position to look for the CSAR and the American rescue squad, when he got muzzle punched from behind knocking him into a daze. He was quickly taken prisoner by RS troopers. We could not catch up the RS troopers with all of our injuries. He was lost.

It was nearly noon, when we decided to try and move out of the shallow valley and into a better position. As we inched our way through the creek and up a slight grade to the access road we were ambushed by accurate fire. They killed our medic and a few other CSAR soldiers were killed as well. I was stuck behind a tree stump taking fire from a position at my 12 o’clock. "How did I manage to get here?" I thought to myself.

For some reason there was an immediate halt in all action. It looked like a good chance to grab some grubs and insects to fill our stomachs until we could get a proper meal. I will never eat another caterpillar again…they wiggle to much.

The lull ended almost as quickly as it began, a thunderous explosion of mortars and automatic gunfire tore the quiet and created massive clouds of dust. We were able to move farther down the creek un-detected as RS forces concentrated on our older positions. We emerged, amazingly right next to the RS prisoner dump. I saw a RS commander beating Mike 1 with a dead skunk of all things. What kind of sick-o does that? We sat there stunned at the abuse of both man and skunk, this enraged one of the CSAR soldiers who let out a rebel yell “ I’ll save you Pepe-Le-pew!” A 40 minute battle ensued leaving mass casualties on both sides. We eventually saved Mike One but the skunk was another casualty of the day.

We then pushed through an opening to a cross-roads where we linked up with another American Unit. From there we had a running battle to LZ for extraction. “Get to the Choppa” Mike 2 said in his best Arnold voice. We finally could breath and let our wounds could be treated properly by the combat medics. Red Star pressed us to the end, and they came within feet of recapturing the “Eye” but luckily the Helo’s arrived and we were able to escape…for now.

RED STAR AAR

Crouching Scared

1427hrs (2:27 pm) I could only hear sniper fire and mortar round above me, making my whole company too afraid to peek they’re heads up. We had about four Americans with us being held hostage. This ultimately granted our demise for the Americans would never leave their men behind. As my fellow comrades began taking wounds I would crawl as fast as I can to save them with out taking a bullet with my name on it. We endured this hell for hours without an end in sight. We gave them a fight, but their tactics were too overwhelming for own new raw recruits and they were slaughter like pigs when the Americans drew closer. I knelt down to save one of my comrades, I heard a crack and I felt hot lead ripping through me as I fall face down onto the dirt, my heart beat slowing to a crawl, I began thinking about my family and what would Super Nova do to them. I failed Super Nova for the last time…

Mike Force Club Survey:

Hello Everyone,

I sent out a Survey this week to gauge the overall satisfaction of guests and members. If you have not filled yours out, check your email and take the 1 minute survey so when we have the club meeting we can adjust things accordingly. Mike Force is the only club that actually does this, so do not let your survey laps.

So far most of the responses have been favorable, and we have some adjusting to do in certain areas as we will always try and improve the club.

OPERATION - Veterans Run D+17 - AAR

June 8th will be Operation Veterans Run D+17hours AAR

Veteran’s Run D+17 hours - Red Star Team 1 – AAR

FAILURE IS NOT AN OPTION

French Congo – Red Star Southern Hemisphere Strategic Jungle Base - Africa
June 11, 2008
20:00 Zulu
Veteran’s Run D+36 hours

6 women and 13 children, ages ranging from 5 – 15, are tied to trees in the rain forest outside the walls of the base compound. They have been out there for 1 day and 1 night now. Their battered bodies slump against the ropes tying them to the tree trunks. They are too dehydrated and too exhausted to beg us to end their misery with a bullet to the back of the head. They are the unlucky family members of the Red Start commando commissioned and non-commissioned officers who failed to accomplish the missions. Super Nova was true to his word: if the commandos succeed in carrying out their mission, the rewards will be beyond their wildest dreams; but if they fail, not only will the team leaders and overall mission commander be executed, but their family will share the same fate. Looking at the women and children, it seems that their men got the better deal by decapitation… Soon enough though, the women and children will be joining their men in the hereafter, the hyenas will make sure of that…

Initially, I question the reason why Super Nova would waste time with this display. Super Nova could have sold off the women and children to make up for the loss suffered when our “precious cargo” of cocaine, cash, food supplies, fission material for the dirty bomb, and worst of all, the Lost Eye of Kali fell into American hands.

But our illustrious leader always has reasons for doing the things he does. Besides making clear that failure is NOT an option, I think this was Super Nova’s way of warning the arrogant Red Star commando cadre that they are NOT above the law; Super Nova’s law and absolute dominance of Red Star.

------------
Neo-VietMinh guerilla base camp – map grid C5 - South Mountain.
June 08, 2008
18:00 Zulu
Veteran’s Run D+17

Something is wrong! The Neo-VietMinh guerilla commander never got what was promised him when Super Nova agreed to sponsor their effort to overturn the current Vietnamese “Communist” government. The promised re-enforcement of fresh guerilla trainees shipped in from the US; the cocaine, food, cash, supplies, and the fission material for the dirty bomb, and its arming code have been overdue for 17 hours.

On top of that, the guerilla commander had another major problem on his hands: his guerilla training camp on the South Mountain is in danger of being discovered by the American scum and their Communist Vietnamese bottom feeders.

Patrols were sent out to the surrounding areas, and a few survivors from the overdue first wave of re-reinforcement were recovered and brought back to the South Mountain base camp. Among these survivors was a grizzled Red Star Spetsnaz sergeant. He suffered multiple through-and-through shot wounds across the chest, but miraculously survived. We found him unconscious from blood loss in the undergrowth, barely breathing. He was one tough old bastard; he just refused to die.
When he came to, he gave us his account of the American ambushes, and the fate of the fresh guerilla trainees and their “cargo”. Only one “package” and one team of guerilla trainees and their Red Star chaperones made it to the base camp; 17 hours behind schedule. But that was hardly enough to organize the defense of the base camp.

If the Neo-VietMinh commander was to have any hope of getting his guerilla effort off the ground, he had better do something, and do it fast. He risked being discovered and contacted Super Nova for urgent assistance via Satcom. In a 10 second burst, the commander sent an encrypted message to one of the 6 Red Star satellites in geo-synch orbit overhead.

Super Nova responded that another wave of Red Star commandos and guerilla trainees with more “precious cargo” were en-route to the base camp. The commander was to sit tight and secure the South Mountain base camp at all costs.

The grizzled Red Star sergeant was indeed tough. Despite his hideous wounds, he was up on his feet and coordinated the defense of the South Mountain base camp. As we were sitting tight waiting for re-enforcements, the sergeant figured that a good defense is to be on the offensive. He sent out 3 man team patrols around the perimeter of the base camp. These patrols will act as early warning on enemy approaches.

Sure enough, one of the patrols spotted one of the American teams on approach to the base camp from the east, and reported back. The sergeant redeployed his limited resources to concentrate firepower on the enemy threat axis to the east of the compound. The Americans used the dense vegetation to mask their advance, but the Red Star recruits and the guerilla trainees were waiting in ambush and decimated the enemy. The sergeant seemed to be everywhere at once, and coordinated flanking moves to hit the American dogs from all sides, forcing them to either retreat or die.

During the fight, another Red Star hunter team, led by Spetsnaz staff sergeant Stryker, also made contact with the enemy. They fought and retrograded to the base camp and boosted the defense with 8 more guns. We held off the Americans and their Communist Vietnamese allies for a good 2 hours… But they never let up on the pressure.

More good news for the defenders came when another Red Star team, commanded by Spetsnaz Captain Seth Prosterman, got to the base camp with the Lost Eye of Kali. The wide-eyed Neo-VietMinh guerilla trainees were scared, but did not have much time to give into their terror. They were quickly deployed in the various ambushes and concerted assaults on the Americans on the east side of the base camp.

Just when it looked like the Americans had lost the taste for battle; a team of highly trained American commandos (rumored to be Mike Force 1) flanked the compound to the west.
Captain Prosterman gave the code word “broken arrow” to get all Red Star forces to retreat into the base camp to fight off MF1. At this time, the American on the east side of the compound got the pressure taken off them; they reorganized themselves, coordinated with MF1, and closed in on the base camp.
The Red Star soldiers and the Neo-VietMinh guerilla trainees fought for their lives, but the American assault was simply too overwhelming. Eventually, the base camp was overrun and again, the precious cargo fell into the hands of the American bandits. The Americans quickly but thoroughly checked the compound for intelligence, set demolition charges to destroy the compound, and then retrograded to their exfiltration point.

Other Red Star teams from the 2nd re-enforcement and re-supply effort got to the base camp too late to make a difference. Seeing the destruction of the base camp, the Red Star commanders knew that they had better catch the Americans, or they and their family will be facing Super Nova’s wrath. They quickly got the teams organized and chased after the fleeing Americans in hot pursuit.
It appeared that the American’s exfil point was at map grid A1. The Americans were in the tree line defensive perimeter waiting for their transport choppers. They unleashed an incredible amount of fire down range at the on-coming Red Star, scoring lucky hits here and there. The Neo-VietMinh, many of whom never before fired a gun, were scared stiff and hunkered down. They simply did not understand that the only way to overpower the Americans is to lay massive amounts of fire on them while aggressively closing in on their position. Again, the grizzled sergeant was there, and bleeding from his chest wounds, he desperately screamed at the Neo-VietMinh. He did everything he could, short of shooting them, to get them out of their holes and spur them on. Sadly, the sergeant’s efforts were in vain. The Neo-VietMinh had lost the will to fight.

The thunderous sounds of the UH-60 Black Hawk heralded the American’s anxiously awaited salvation. 8 Black Hawks escorted by 4 AH-1Z Super Cobra attack helicopters, moved in and sanitized the area to the south of the American LZ with withering 20 mm chain gun fire and 5-inch Zuni air launched rockets. Satisfied that the Red Star forces had been decimated, the Black Hawks touched down and the Americans piled into it cargo holds. The American contingent left the South mountain territory with immunity.

Failure is never an option when you are in the service of Super Nova. But it looked like we failed terribly in this campaign. There will be hell to pay for those in command.

>>> Long Live Super Nova, and glory to the order of the Red Star <<<

Red Star AAR -

Endless Army
1000 hours (10am) My Squad, after given orders from SuperNova to carry the Lost Eye of Kali to way point 6, arrived at way point one. I led my squad deep into the field trying to avoid the Americans. After two harsh hours of fighting with Americans, we decided to take a short rest in hole in the forest. Little did we know that the Americans were within spitting distance from our current position. We held our ground and my comrades began talking wounds. I tried my best to save them all while still fighting back the American advance. When all seemed lost for us, squad five and four came around the corner just in time to push back the Americans. However when they followed them several Mike Force Ones were laying in wait. Only my squad and I survived. We than got separated from our squad leader so I took command for the time being. I led my group out of the forest were we met back up with our Squad leaders. Slowly we moved on toward the southern mountain. Bullets whizzed by nearly hitting my men in the head, but we didn’t stop. We kept pushing until we reached way point 6.

We stashed our item in a near by bush hoping that the American scum wouldn’t find it. We held our own for several hours, but the Americans were like cockroaches. Once you killed one another would take its place! We kept fighting till we ran out of bullets. I barely escaped with my life. We failed our mission. Our heads would roll.

June 8th will be Operation Veterans Run D+17hours

Situation: The New Vietmen and Red Star are still running the trail. Intel just informed us that an elite Red Star team is carring the "Lost Eye of Kali." The diamond was stolen from India last month and it's value would pay for much of the terrorism planned for Vietnam.
Orders: Hold the captured items at grid R4 and search out more items being smuggled into Vietnam. Returning "The Eye of Kali" (if found) will encourage India in assisting us in this war against terror. Take the captured items to grid F4 one hour before extraction by PTF's.

Remember to bring everything you need into the field for a 30 minute in field lunch break. Ammo, battery, food and water, This means: 2 hours of play then a 30 minute in field break followed by another 2 hours of play.

OPERATION: -Vetrans Run- May 25 AAR

Sunday May 25th 3:00pm Sharp OPERATION: Veterans Run

American AAR:

Red Star Team 5 - Sergeant - AAR

“HOW THE HELL DID I END UP HERE?” I could not help but chew on this question over and over in my head, as I lay in ambush on the damp ground in the total darkness. The infernal bugs are having a good time feeding on my blood, and I dare not move to slap them away; mainly because it is futile, and because any sound, except for the bugs’ incessant buzzing, can give my position away to the Imperialistic American dogs prowling the tree line.

“Oh yeah, I know how I got here,” I muse: I am a Red Star Spetsnaz sergeant, leading fire team 5, or whatever was left of it. As I lay there in the dark, being wet, cold, exhausted, hungry, and eaten alive, I finally understand what my grandfather had experienced during the time he was running with the Viet Minh fighting against the French occupiers some 80 years ago.

And now it is my turn. Here I am in the bushes in some unnamed stretch of the tropical jungle of Vietnam, my country of origin. But this time, instead of fighting an occupying force, like my grandpa had done against the French, I am actually fighting my own countrymen. YES, my own countrymen! That thought originally gives me some pause and causes me to do some soul searching. But in the end, I know in my heart that when I joined the order of the Red Star, my allegiance is only to Super Nova, and my only brothers are my fellow Red Star soldiers from all over the world. Besides, the Vietnam that I know now, supposedly peace loving and a Republic, is just another puppet of the American imperialists and their mighty Dollar.

“Snap!” What was that? I jerk out of my musing, and become alert and pumped with waves of adrenaline. My ears are tuned to the slightest of sounds coming from the bushes around me. It’s amazing how acute your hearing is in the pitch black darkness of the tropical jungle night. I close my eyes and open my mouth slightly to improve my hearing, straining to pick up any man-made sound. I point my Colt 1911 and my Surefire flashlight in the direction of the noise, ready to flick on the light and unload a few .45 cal elephant stopper rounds and take out an American or a Communist Vietnamese that is about to discover my position.

Nothing… there is nothing following the snap. I am beginning to think that I am hearing things. Perhaps the knowledge that I am the only one left from my squad that is still moving, and that I am being hunted, is playing tricks on my mind.

When the adrenaline wears off, I feel incredibly exhausted, and lapse back into musing over the question of how the hell I got here!

Super Nova has been approached by a “Vietnamese-in-exile” guerillas/rebel group, who called themselves the Neo-VietMinh. The group is comprised mostly of born-in-the-West idealists and romantics. Most are misguided college educated kids who think this is their chance for adventure, and to “make a difference” by liberating Vietnam from the Communists. The Neo-VietMinh leaders are asking Super Nova for help with their campaign to overthrow the current Vietnamese government. Naturally, there is much to be gained by Super Nova in supporting this endeavor in the form of prestige, power, and money. Super Nova commits Red Star seasoned non-commissioned officer corps and Red Star recruits to the guerilla’s cause.

And naturally, the God-cursed Americans are involved. The Communist government of the Republic of Vietnam enlists the American’s help to fight off the growing Neo-VietMinh threat. And as meddlesome as they are, the Americans can’t pass up the opportunity to turn this country into another of their lapdogs.

Red Star personnel act as the advisors to the guerillas on weapons and tactics. And we are to accompany them on their missions deep in the jungle of Vietnam. This time we are to ferry supplies of drugs and rice, money, fission material for a dirty 1 kiloton yield tactical nuke, and the arming codes for the war head. In addition to supplies and materiel, we are also responsible for delivery of fresh guerilla trainees to the guerilla base of operation deep inside the jungle of Vietnam. We are to traverse the famous, or infamous depending on your point of reference, Ho Chi Minh Trail. For security reasons, each cargo package is entrusted to a team of Red Star advisors and their guerilla trainees. And also for security reasons, each team is to move from waypoint to waypoint in the jungle. At each waypoint, a member of the Red Star Pathfinders force will be waiting with instruction and coordinates for the next waypoint. This way, if a team is captured, the location of the guerilla base camp will not be compromised. My team is responsible for 50 K’s of commercial rate cocaine.

We set out from the night amphibious landing on Vung Tau beach where the Red Star amphibious assault landing crafts deposit us, the cargo, and a batch of Neo-VietMinh guerilla trainees. We immediately clear the beach and start our trek inlands; each team heading in its respective compass bearing to the next designated waypoint.

I take team 5 through very difficult terrain with almost impassable growth of vines and tall grass and fallen trees. My philosophy is: if you take the easy route, then you are not doing your job! At times, we have to double-back because there is no way we can make a hole in the dense jungle vegetation. But all in all, we progress steadily to our next waypoint. The young Red Star recruits, to their credit, copy their grizzled sergeant and do not complain about traversing the treacherous terrain. But the Neo-VietMinh guerilla trainees are lagging behind because they are not accustomed to the harsh demands of jungle warfare.

We avoid all contacts until we get close to our next waypoint, a clearing in the jungle vegetation. All is quiet! This looks too suspicious, so I sent out a scouting party of 3 Red Star recruits. The Neo-VietMinh guerilla trainees stay behind in the tree line guarding the “cargo”. As soon as the scouting party emerges from the tree line, M-16 and M249 SAW gun fire erupts from the other side of the clearing and cut down the recruits at the waist. I signal for the rest of the squad to spread out and blend back into the vegetation. I don’t want the cargo to fall in American hands. The squad scatters into the underbrush and we lose contact with each other.

The Americans advance on our position and soon I hear a brief firefight followed by their reports that they have of the cocaine case. At this report, I know that a good portion of my team has been neutralized. The Americans make off with our cargo and move to exit the area.
When all is clear, and the jungle ambient noise returns to its normal intensity, I venture out of my hole in the bush and rally the remainder of the team. A few RS recruits and Neo-VietMinh guerilla trainees come out of their hiding places, but most are dead on the jungle floor.

Our objective now is to chase after the Americans and recover the cocaine. The radio crackled as the other teams break radio silence and report that they similarly are ambushed and lost their cargo to the Americans. We decide to rendezvous at grid coordinate C4, the base of the South Mountain, where we join resources and go hunting for the Americans.

We are very close on the American’s tail, and we are ready to wreak vengeance as we close in on their rear security element. A protracted firefight breaks out, with both sides taking heavy casualties. And my team just gets smaller and smaller until there are none left standing but me.

Daylight is practically gone. But it looks like the hunt will continue into the night…

And this is how I got where I am now. For the last few hours, I have been playing mind games with the American dogs: in the dark, in the middle of nowhere; ambushing and counter-ambushing.

Every now and then, the stillness of the jungle night is shattered as vicious firefights erupts and the combatants engage each other in the dark, with no quarters asked or given. And that is exactly my mindset as well. If I am to die in this wretched ass-end of the world, then my last act of defiance is to take a few of the Imperialist dogs with me.

“There is still one in there… In the bush, I mean. I just can’t get a good fix on where he is… Can’t triangulate…” I hear the Americans whispering to each other as they advance and flank my position.
Suddenly, something moves in front of my field of view from right to left. It is of distinctive human shape and it runs. I turn, flick on the surefire, lead the target and unload three .45 rounds. Then automatic M4 fire erupts; I remember hearing the distinctive cyclic sound of the American standard-issued M4-A1 assault rifle, as the bullets stitch across my chest and knock me back to the jungle floor…

For no particular reason, I remember thinking to myself that dawn is breaking in a few hours, and if this is what dying is like, it is not so bad...

RED STAR AAR: Unyielding Darkness

2100 Hours (9 o’clock pm)
The sky blackened as we huddle around a small camp fire to stay warm. We could hear the screams of our comrades as the Americans slowly murdered them. Only the seer fear of SuperNova’s punishment for failure kept us awake. One of our squad leaders decided that we should go on the offensive, and out into the blackness we walked with comrades to our left and right. I felt almost untouchable, at least for a moment. Shots rang out in the darkness as my fellow Red Star fell to the ground wounded. I did my best to heal them while trying to not get hit with American tracer rounds. Comrades screaming for me to save them came to a choking halt as Americans dug knifes deep into the throats of my allies. The Day was lost.

Video: - Gates of fire -

By now most of you have had a chance to view the videos that were submitted to me last week of the event. Unfortunately there were some horrible rules violations caught on camera. Not only does this reflect poorly on players involved but the club in general.

Some of the violations are safety related and show that, though you take a test, we go over the rules, you sign a waiver that you understand the rules and are asked before each event if you have questions regarding any rules, there are players who do not follow them.

So now that we can single out these individuals and reprimand their action or put them on probation. Remember, if you are a club member this means your yearly fee may be forfeit and you will need to come as a guest for the next 3 months.

We are going to have a contest. We need to correct these problems here

Some of our guest players have broken the rules can you find how many errors in this video? Submit to us how many errors and what they were to kingsensei@aol.com for extra raffle tickets at the next scheduled game.

Operation: To The Gates of Hell - AAR

American Recondo Mike Force Team 3 FTL AAR:

Though I walk through the shadow of death, I fear no evil, because I am the baddest M.F. in the valley!!!

This had been the general sense of confidence that the American personnel had during the mission briefing on board the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Reagan. Nonetheless, when you went knocking on the Gates of Hell, you had better be ready to meet the Devil! I don’t think any of us had been ready…

18:00 Zulu (10:00 Uniform) was the H-hour for the Op. The tall grass of LZ Alpha was blasted flat by the rotor wash of waves and waves of UH-60 Blackhawks as they arrived at the insertion point and disgorged their deadly payload of Recondo Mike Force Team 3, SNDF (Scotts National Defense Force), and the Marines contingent.

It had been an awesome show of force, no doubt. But it sure as hell also had given plenty of early warning to the Devil and his legion down below in the valley. Any defending Reds within 15 mile radius of LZ Alpha would have a hard time ignoring the ruckus.

MF team 3 consisted of 4 members; before the end, one of us would not come back from this mission. Our orders were to infiltrate behind enemy lines and demolish a satellite dish farm near a chokepoint en-route to the Reds’ HQ. According to mission intel, demolishing the dish farm would effectively prevent the Reds from calling in re-enforcement.

The Marines had been asked to do what they do best; charging into enemy fire and kick ass and take names. The Marines contingent had been organized into 3 elements: White, Blue, and L.O.S.T. White and Blue were the primary assault elements, and together with the SNDF solders, they would go down to the valley floor, challenge the Reds, and keep the bulk of the Red Star forces engaged and eventually clear the AO (Area of Operation) of any Red Star forces. They would then push through due east to the Red Star HQ deep in the valley and clean out all Red Star insurgency in Scotts Valley area. The L.O.S.T team had been given specific mission orders that were on a need-to-know basis only.

Team 3 would use the distraction created by the Marines and, while avoiding all contacts with the enemy, infiltrate the chokepoint and take out the dish farm. After destroying the dish farm, Team3 was free to engage targets of opportunity on the way back to the rendezvous for extraction.

The plan was perfect when it was drawn up in the air-conditioned briefing room of the mighty aircraft carrier parked in international waters off the coast; but no battle plan ever survives when the bullets starts flying; this time was no exception.

MF Team 3 had chosen to stay clear of the fighting in the valley and instead had skirted the edge of the AO. Bearing south-east, the team stayed high up on the slopes and had to negotiate the treacherous slopes (40 – 60 degrees) all the way from the insertion point to the objective. After approximately 1 hour from the insertion, MF Team 3 had covered about 3/4 of the distance to the objective.

The Marines on the valley floor got the fight they had come looking for. The Reds came out and fought like demons! Horrific firefights had broken out down below on the valley floor, and soon, medic calls were filling the radio comm channels.

Capitalizing on the chaotic situation, MF Team 3 pushed on towards the objective. We were sure that the Reds were having their hands full repelling the Marines, such that they would have left their northern flank unguarded. Unfortunately, the Red’s commander was Machiavellian enough to expect infiltration at northern flank, however unlikely it might have seemed.
He had placed a number of snipers to provide flank security on the slopes to the north of the dish farm, right in between MF Team 3 and its objective.
As stealthy as Team 3 had been, movements attracted the eye, and the Red Star snipers had got eyes-on on the team. Shots were fired, and Team 3 was pinned down in place. We had to decide whether to stay on the current course and try to neutralize the snipers, or break contact, retrograde, and find another way in.

After conferring on the radio with the Marines commander below, we learned that we could not expect any help from the Marines as they were fully engaged. The Team lead decided to break contact and retrograde. The team double-timed its way down to the valley floor and linked up with the Marines pushing along the creek bed. The plan was for Team 3 to break off during the mass push along the creek, and execute a flanking move up the southern ridge to hit the dish farm from its southern flank.

As the American and SNDF forces were rushing down the creek bed towards the chokepoint, they walked right into a classic L-shape ambush. The Reds had set up heavy firepower in front and mowed down the advancing Americans, while the long arm of the L ambush was unleashing withering fire from the high ground up on the southern slopes. Within seconds of the ambush being triggered, Marines were dropping dead and dying. The corpsmen also died trying to save their falling comrades. It was a bloodbath like none I have ever seen before.

It was here that Team 3 lost its #2 man, Bob. Bob had seen that the #4 man, Trump, who was Team 3’s demolition expert, was in direct line of fire from the ambush. Knowing that if Trump died, the mission would be seriously compromised, Bob had pushed Trump out of the way, yelling for his buddy to retreat to safety. He then used his bulk to shield Trump from the murderous fire, and died before hitting the ground with numerous wounds to the head and chest. I will report his selfless act to Command and recommend him for a posthumous Distinguished Service Cross.

The Reds had executed a perfect ambush and had reduced the American forces to 50% of their original numbers.

At this point of the battle, for reasons still unknown to me, American high command had not send in the needed re-enforcement, but had decided to order all American forces and SNDF to break contact with the enemy and retreat to LZ Bravo for extraction.

As the American forces were pulling away from the Forward Area of Battle, a FAC (Forward Air Controller), circling in a F/A-18 D Hornet called in artillery fire missions to cover the American and SNDF retreat. The Reds appeared content that they had been successful in keeping their enemies at the gates, and did not make further effort to pursue the retreating foes and risk more casualties from American artillery barrages.

MF Team 3 members grabbed the harness on Bob’s armor and dragged his lifeless body on the mad dash to LZ Bravo. The UH-60 Blackhawks were waiting at the LZ with the crew chiefs frantically gesticulating for the guys on the ground to hurry up and get aboard. MF Team 3 shared a Blackhawk with a few of the Marines. We could see the anguish on their faces; because unlike us, they had been forced to leave the bodies of their brothers in arms behind at the Gates of Hell.

I have a feeling that this is not yet over… Perhaps, we will come knocking again at the Gates of Hell. But this time, the Devil had better be ready to meet us!

RECONDO! Mission First! We are the hunters, they are the prey!

MARINE DETACHMENT - AAR

The second Marine detachment followed shortly behind the first on their journey towards the "Gates Of Hell". It started out to be a normal day of bloodshed and rivalry between the dirty Reds and the American forces. Contact was minimal as we trekked down the mountain towards somewhat flat land. Bullets were being sprayed but the American forces were moving forward (unknowingly, straight towards the ambush fulfilling the name Gates of Hell). We pushed forward to the buildings and were unexpectedly greeted by diplomats holding a baby in hopes that it would bring peace and resolve between the feuding forces. Alas, they realized that there was no stopping it, and returned to safety before witnessing the ugly sides of war. The American forces found the road but moving up it was tougher than a one-armed man swimming upstream. Every attempt was thwarted by the dammed communists. They had machine-gun blockades and snipers and the American forces could not break through, the death toll rising faster than a service to air missile. We were tired, hungry, and in dire need of ammunition and an air strike. Bullets flew like hornets for the better part of the afternoon. The Americans decided to pull back and regroup, reload and relocate, in order to hit them hard when they least expect it. Send ammo, troops, and heavy artillery. We are going to need it!

Red Star Elite DMTNT AAR

The Yankee Imperialists entered our airspace with an arrogance that sealed their fate. Black Hawk Helicopters fast roped 4 platoons of American and Marines on to the outskirts of the Valley. The Foliage made it impossible for and artillery or direct fire munitions to be accurate, so the cowardly American had to actually face us without the benefit of their "superior" technology.

Their goal to disrupt our command and control building never came to fruition. We posted 2 platoons of Supernovas recruits and 2 squads of elite forces on the banks of the valley to prevent flanking maneuvers.

The main camp was left as a ghost town. This seemed to confuse the yankee scum into a false sense of security. or a deep sense of impending doom. The Americans crossed the river to the access road leaving only a squad to probe the Northern valley face. We had only the Red Start Elite DMTNT with their Tiger Stripes. Blending into the dead foliage, and downed trees that fell from the artillery barrage we observed their progress from afar. our intelligence reports stated the Americans originated from a task force built around the U.S.S. Reagan.

I watched as the Marine unit carefully traversed the riverbed hugging the deep cut embankment, hoping that they would not be detected. We waited until they were within 30 ft to unleash the small arms fire. we decimated all attempts through the river valley to access our bunker and our RS regulars forced the fight to stay on the road and south valley wall.

One American squad we are suspecting were the Recondo detachment pressed into the Norther wall hoping to flank un-noticed, but were met with accurate sniper fire, leaving them without reference to where the fire was originating from. We watched as one honorable soul placed his person in front of his comrade to shield the onslaught fire, they dragged his tattered remains away from the contact.

eventually the northern face was cleared by the Americans, I was clipped in the shoulder and woke up 20 minutes later as my comrades poured Vodka on my face and made crude jokes about my threshold for blood loss.

The Yankees had an un-contested path to the bunker, but they never returned...they had a 15 minute opening and never exploited our one weakness. They are as weak as they are tactically inept.

The Americans eventually left the valley floor and left a good portion of the dead for retrieval later.

If your going to fight the Devil, you had better bring a bigger pitch fork.
