Friend or Foe? Blue on Blue mistakes

This has started creeping into the club again. Friendly Fire (blue on Blue) incidents are becoming very common. I believe the main reason is identification issues, and uniformity of BDU colors are starting to blur and our colar tabs are getting covered by shemahgs and vests. These issues are being addressed this month and a fix will come sooner than later. last month was pretty bad and I think 30% of all players had an incident they witnessed or participated in.

We have a couple of options, two uniforms or velcro arm bands for BOTH sides. The later is more economical for all of us however the RED STAR ELITE, Recondo Graduates and the Mike Force One team will start wearing their own unique patterns again. Guests will wear woodland as usual.

In a way it shows that our club is growing quickly and we need to adapt. So watch your fire, set up some challenge codes and keep fighting.

I think that different sides havening different uniforms is the way to go. I don't think armbands are a big improvement over collars and I think that two sides with different uniforms will add to the game experience.

All comments are appreciated. Since our club has had such an influx of 1st time players, its hard to polarize the teams and designate the teams before game day for an equal balance. It may mean you bring two uniforms to the field and change if needed. As you can imagine, that may be too time consuming.

All of these issues are going to be resolved and field tested before they are finalized.

thanks for the input

THE VELCRO ARM BANDS WOULD PROBABLY WORK BEST. EVEN OP: "RING OF FIRE" WITH THE BLUE TAPE ARM BANDS WERE MORE VISIBLE THEN THE RED DUCT TAPE COLLAR TAGS. A 3/4" STRIP AROUND ONE ARM. I KNOW I TOOK MY FAIR SHARE OF "FRIENDLY-FIRE". WHATEVER YOU DECIDE NEEDS TO BE VISIBLE FROM ALL ANGLES.
SEE YA @ THE "RED TIDE"!!!

A 'headband' would make a positive ID from most angles more plausible and cut down on friendly fire incidents.
Fairly economical also as the numbers can be evened out as necessary without having a uniform change. Just my two cents...

Chances are that we will start with armbands, and clean up the uniform for the Mike Force Club Members to better facilitate the growth. eventually we may have to pre-register teams online with a form, but thats probably months away.

We all need to keep in mind that 90% of the mistakes are due to "shoot first and questions later" thinking and if everyone took a few extra seconds to identify their target before shooting this event will decrease significantly.

Obviously there are many situations where that may not be an option, but we can all take a few moments before the game starts to look at your teammates and study what they are wearing and make sure they do the same.

We do try and place BDU patterns that are similar on one side, so that will not change.

Many times we stick all irregular patterns on the RS team and the majority of woodland on the American team so keep this in mind as well when you are identifying your target.

hi,

i shot up a few of my own guys pretty bad that day, too. in my case it was because of the shoot first not enough time to identify policy. however, i must say, and this is no way to defend my carelessness, that it would have been easier for me to identify my guys if we were sporting different uniforms. i like the idea of headbands or even tape around the required boonie hat idea. this would clearly identify people popping up from the outside.

I vote for velcro armbands. I really like this idea since it allows for the Mikeforce 1 and Reconde qualified club members to wear exotic camo patterns.
